Conroy Mary Baptised 1906 Bengal 0498523 332 42 Conroy Mary Baptised 1917 Bengal 0498525 422 297 To research further re West Brompton From: http://gdavis.id.au/misc/feeney%20story.html 1842 an Edward Feeney with his wife Alice Eliza Conroy, arrived Nelson NZ Edward Feeney was born in 1809 or 1815 (unproven) in London, England, the son of Thomas Feeney and Julia Farrell Edward was a plasterer by trade and his father was a bricklayer. It is thought that his father Thomas Feeney was probably born in Ireland but no proof of this has been found. Edward married Alice Conroy in West Bromwich, England in 1836 and they had five children, Thomas, born 1838, Edward, born 1842, John, born 1846, in Sydney, James born 1851 (Queensland) and Susannah born 1856, (also in Queensland). England Census for 1841, just prior to their departure to this part of the world. The census shows that they were living in Birmingham, England, Edward Feeney born 1816, Plasterer, Alice Eliza Conroy, Born 1816, Ireland, Polisher, Thomas Feeney born 1839 and includes Bridget Conroy born 1811, Ireland, also a Polisher which sounds like it may be Alice’s sister. The fact that Alice is shown as surname Conroy at that time may indicate that they were not married.
